A cut above!” - Jordan - DJ at KMUD Redway

The Story:

Ascending, award-winning Norcal songwriting talent, Matthew Wallace, recently relocated from Hayfork to Humboldt County, keeping his Countredelic sound squarely within the Emerald Triangle. Wallace is known for his  unforgettable vocal performances as well as his flavorful lyrics and impressive songwriting chops.

Matthew Wallace has performed on stages ranging from headlining spots at the Trinity County Fair and the Bigfoot BBQ, to featuring at the Blue Lake Casino, in addition to well-loved watering holes from San Francisco to Southern Oregon. Wallace spent the early summer of '22 touring the Southwest, playing shows in Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona which led to an interview feature by Shoutout Arizona Magazine.

A gifted instrumentalist, Wallace has performed with bluegrass, rock, and country bands, as well as showing off his solo skill playing bottleneck slide guitar, banjo, and piano. His songs have been heard on radio stations in Chico (KZFR), Redding (KKRN), Redway (KMUD), and Eureka/Arcata (KHUM).

Born and raised in Kaufman County, Texas, Wallace made his way to California, first landing in Southern Humboldt before meandering to Trinity County. In 2018 he recorded his debut album "Pyramids & Street Corners" at 4th Corner Studios in Hayfork, collaborating with musicians from Grass Valley, Eureka, Portland, and New Jersey.

In 2021 Matthew Wallace released his highly-anticipated follow-up, "Shovel Ready". Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Bruce Turgon, formerly of the band Foreigner, at his Redding studio After Hours Recorders. Joined by the band Matthew coined "the Stolen Horses", the new record is a hotfoot bruiser of a rock 'n roll album featuring popular tracks like California's On Fire, Mambo Queen, and Kool-Aid Man.

Matthew Wallace has also received nods from NPR as his 2019 and 2021 Tiny Desk Contest videos were included in their Favorite Desks in the Wild super-cut video. His 2020 submission was highlighted by Jefferson Public Radio as one of their top 5 favorite videos.

Matthew Wallace is currently booking solo singer-songwriter shows and is "shovel-ready" to open, feature, or headline your next event!
